Convert a Hand-Drawn Sketch into an Editable Wireframe

1. Go to uizard.io and sign up for a free account.
2. Complete the initial setup questions about your role and intended use. select something close to "UX/UI Designer."

What you should see: A project dashboard once account setup finishes.

Before you photograph anything, a few habits make the conversion far more accurate:

1. Represent text as a scribbled line or the actual words, not empty boxes.
2. Draw image placeholders as a rectangle or circle with an X through it.
3. Draw buttons as rectangles with a label or icon inside, not just a bare outline.
4. Use a dark pen on plain paper or a whiteboard with good lighting and minimal glare.

What you should see: A sketch that's clearly organized into sections, even if rough. Wireframe Scanner reads structure and layout, so a sketch with clear boxes and spacing converts more cleanly than a dense, overlapping doodle.

1. From your Uizard dashboard, look for Wireframe Scanner as a project type or a tool in the create-new-project menu.
2. Start a new scan.

What you should see: An upload screen, typically with an option to drag in an image, browse your files, or scan a QR code to send a photo straight from your phone. Troubleshooting: If you don't see Wireframe Scanner directly on the dashboard, check the "new project" or "create" menu. Uizard periodically reorganizes its project-type list.

1. Photograph your sketch in good, even light, with the whole drawing visible and minimal shadow across it.
2. Upload the photo by dragging it into the upload panel, importing it from your files, or scanning the on-screen QR code with your phone to send it directly.
3. Wait for the scan to process.

What you should see: A progress indicator, then an editable digital wireframe with real components (buttons, text fields, images) mapped to roughly where you drew them. Troubleshooting: If the scan misreads several elements, check your photo for glare, shadow, or a tilted angle first. a straight-on, well-lit photo fixes most conversion errors. For a sketch that's especially messy, redraw the problem section more clearly and rescan just that part.

1. Review each screen the scanner produced against your original sketch.
2. Adjust spacing, resize elements, and swap in your actual component styles where the auto-conversion approximated something.
3. Delete or merge any elements the scanner duplicated or misread.

What you should see: A wireframe that's editable like any other Uizard or exported design file, not a static image.

1. Export or continue building in Uizard, or recreate the cleaned-up structure in Figma if that's where your team does final design work.
2. Share the converted wireframe with whoever was in the original workshop to confirm it matches what they discussed.
